Even though the time for summer break is still far away, summer school applications have already started. For many high school students attending summer school programs is an opportunity to push academic boundaries, gain valuable experience, and prepare for the future. Across the world, prestigious summer school programs designed specifically for outstanding students are offering rigorous courses and hands-on projects in unique learning environments. Since the number of interested students is increasing each year most collages that offer summer programs, including those in the United States of America, start applications around December.
One of the colleges that offers such programs is the NYU. The NYU offers the Career Edge-NYU High School Summer Program for all international and local students. In total the program contains 18 courses which cover many categories including art, business, design, global affairs, law, media studies, real estate and writing. In total, there are six 4-day sessions between June 23rd and August 8th, 2025, that are available for high school students with the starting price per course being $2,579 and a $50 application fee. All high school students that have successfully completed grades 9, 10, or 11 are eligible to apply for the program until March 15th, 2025. However, NYU encourages students to apply early in order to meet all the application requirements in time, including submitting a 250–500 word essay about their choice of course, English proficiency test results and a student Visa.
Another college that offers a summer school program is Stanford. Stanford University offers an 8 weeklong program starting on June 24th and ending on August 18th , 2025. This program offers over 130 courses for high school students with the possibility of taking multiple courses at the same time. For international students Standford provides a living space on campus as well as a meal plan with the starting price of $18,443. Applications for this programs are available in multiple stages with the Early Decision submission deadline being on December 13th , 2024, and the last stage, the High School Waitlist submission deadline being on March 7th , 2025.
Unlike the NYU and Stanford there is also a number of collages that offer scholarships for their summer school programs. One of these is also Harvard University, which offers two Secondary School Programs, one being the 4-week program between July 13th and August 8th and a 7-week program between June 21st and August 9th . In total, there are over 200 college credit courses students can choose from ranging in various topics from humanities to STEM. The applications for this program start on December 2nd, 2024, and all international students are asked to apply before February 12th , 2025, to receive a Student Visa.
Yale Young Global Scholars (YYGS) is a summer school program provided by the University of Yale, which covers various courses in STEM, social sciences, humanities and other fields. The overall requirements for application include the list of activities, one 400-word essay and one 200-word response, two “fast take” responses (280 characters each), an official school transcript and one letter of recommendation. There are three sessions in total from June 22nd to August 1st, 2025. The price for a 2-week program is $6,500, but there are various scholarships available for students that apply before January 10th, 2025.
