Christmas in Zagreb 

According to the CNN, Zagreb is on the list of best Advent Markets in the world, along with London, Vienna and New York. This year’s festivities are organized by the Tourist Board of the City of Zagreb. The Advent period starts with the lighting of the first candle in Ban Jelačić square, the lights turning on in Zrinjevac, and the opening of the ice-skating ring, which is celebrating its 10 year anniversary, in Tomislav square at 6:30 PM on November 30th. This winter wonderland will last until the 7th of January and will take place at 18 locations. Kvaternikov trg has been added to the list this year and will offer a program called Mingle in the Hood full of food and other festivites.  

Additionally, on December 1st, the brass band Ad Gloriam will perform from the balconies of Zagreb. Furthermore, 2 ZET “Merry Christmas” trams will be available for use during this festive period.  

For the athletic ones, there is a Zagreb Advent Run on Sunday the 8th of December starting in the courtyard of the Hilton Garden Inn hotel on Radnička cesta 21, organized by Run Croatia and Millenium promotion. For an entrance fee of 35 EUR, you can choose to run 5 km or 10 km and win prizes. There are 3 categories: the Red Zone for serious runners, the Blue Zone for amateurs, and the Green Zone for families with kids and/or dogs.
